Case IH F30 – Transmission Controller (TCU): 19th Gear Clutch Dump Solenoid Over Voltage

The controller is detecting an over-voltage state on the solenoid's circuit, which typically indicates that the solenoid or its wiring harness is shorted to +12V (battery voltage).

   Inspect the transmission extension harness and main harness for chafing, melted insulation, or pinched wires that could cause a short to +12V.

   Disconnect the 19th gear clutch dump solenoid and use a multimeter to check the harness-side connector for voltage when the drive is off. If current/voltage is measured, the harness is shorted to power.

   Check the internal resistance of the 19th gear clutch dump solenoid to ensure it has not failed and shorted internally.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent further electrical damage during testing.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Locate the transmission control valve block where the clutch solenoids are housed.

   Disconnect and Isolate

   Unplug the connector for the 19th gear clutch dump solenoid.

   Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a short to +12V in the wiring, trace the transmission harness back to the Transmission Controller and repair or replace the damaged section of the wire.

   Replace Solenoid (If Applicable)

   If the wiring tests good but the solenoid is internally shorted, remove the retaining hardware on the valve block and extract the faulty 19th gear clutch dump solenoid. Install the replacement solenoid with lubricated O-rings.

   Reassemble and Clear Codes

   Reconnect the wiring harness and battery. Use the tractor's H-Menu or a diagnostic tool to clear the F30 fault code.

   Recalibrate

   Perform a transmission clutch calibration to ensure the transmission controller adapts to the new solenoid.
