Case IH F41 – Transmission Control Unit (TCU) / Drivetrain Control Unit (DCU): Medium/Reverse Range Synchronizer Potentiometer Under Voltage

The control module is receiving a voltage signal from the medium/reverse range synchronizer potentiometer that is below the expected minimum threshold. This typically points to a loss of the 5-volt reference signal, an open circuit, a short to ground in the wiring harness, or an internally failed potentiometer.

   Inspect the medium/reverse range synchronizer potentiometer connector (X-667) and the transmission controller/CCU connector (X-094)

   Ensure the connectors are fully seated, not damaged, and that the pins are tight and in the correct position

   Check for the 5-Volt reference signal: Disconnect the potentiometer connector, turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and measure the voltage at the harness

   Test the wiring harness for continuity, open circuits, or a short to ground between the potentiometer and the transmission controller

   Repair or replace wiring harness

   If the diagnostic checks reveal damaged wiring, corroded pins, or a short to ground, repair or replace the affected section of the wiring harness.

   Replace potentiometer

   If the wiring harness and 5V reference are functioning correctly but the voltage reading remains out of specification, remove and replace the faulty Medium/Reverse Range Synchronizer Potentiometer.

   Reconnect harnesses

   Reconnect all harnesses securely.

   Clear error codes

   Clear the transmission error codes using the tractor's H-Menu/diagnostic menu or an authorized service tool.

   Perform calibration

   Perform a full transmission and clutch calibration procedure. This is strictly required so the transmission controller can learn the physical travel limits and calibrated voltage range of the new potentiometer.
