Case IH F48 – Transmission Control Module (Transmission ECU): Clutch Disconnect Switch Short Circuit or Clutch Disconnect Switch Misadjusted High
Issue description
The control module is receiving a continuous, uninterrupted signal from the clutch pedal switch. The system believes the clutch pedal is constantly depressed, or it has detected a hard short in the wiring circuit.

Check the cause
Inspect the lower part of the clutch pedal switch linkage to see if the switch is misadjusted (stuck in the closed position).
Trace the wiring harness from the clutch disconnect switch to the transmission controller, looking for pinched wires, chafing, or a short circuit to ground or a 12V power source.
Disconnect the switch and test it with a multimeter; if it shows continuity in all positions, it is internally shorted and must be replaced.
Enter the tractor's H-Menu (Electronic Module Configuration) to monitor the live state of the clutch disconnect switch and confirm if the Transmission ECU is actively seeing the short.
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.
Locate the Switch
Locate the clutch disconnect switch, which is mounted on the clutch pedal linkage assembly inside the cab.
Removal
Disconnect the electrical wiring harness connector from the switch. Remove the retaining nuts/hardware holding the switch to the mounting bracket.
Installation
Install the new clutch disconnect switch into the bracket.
Adjustment
Carefully adjust the switch position so that the plunger correctly engages and disengages with the travel of the clutch pedal. It must not be compressed too far (which causes the "misadjusted high" fault).
Reassembly
Reconnect the electrical connector and reconnect the battery.
Calibration
Turn the key on and clear the transmission error codes. Because the transmission relies on this switch for clutch engagement timing, you may need to perform a transmission clutch calibration procedure using the tractor's diagnostic menu before returning the machine to the field.
