Case IH F64 – Transmission Control Unit (TCU) / CFPS Electronic Module: Range Shift Switch Input Voltage Low / Forward Pressure Switch Open Circuit Or Short To Ground
Issue description
Depending on the transmission configuration, the transmission controller is receiving a lower-than-expected voltage signal from the range change switch, or the circuit for the forward pressure switch is open or shorted to ground (on CFPS models).

Check the cause
Visually inspect the shuttle lever and range shift buttons for physical damage or sticking, which can cause erratic voltage inputs.
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the forward pressure switch (on the transmission valve block) and the range shift switch for rubbed wires (short to ground) or broken/corroded connectors (open circuit).
Use a multimeter to verify the reference voltage at the switch connector, ensuring it receives the proper 5V or 12V reference and has a solid ground.
Test the forward pressure switch and range shift switch for internal continuity to rule out a failed internal contact.
Repair steps
Park and secure the tractor
Park the tractor on level ground, block the wheels, and apply the parking brake.
Disconnect the battery
Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.
Replace faulty switch
If the switch is faulty: Remove the defective forward pressure switch from the transmission valve block or the range shift switch from the cab console/shuttle lever. Install the replacement switch and torque to OEM specifications.
Repair faulty wiring
If the wiring is faulty: Repair any open circuits or shorts to ground in the transmission harness. Replace damaged connector pigtails if corrosion is present.
Verify repair
Reconnect the battery and turn the key to the "ON" position to verify if the active F64 code has cleared.
Calibrate transmission
Transmission Calibration: Enter the "H" menu on the digital display and select H1 (Clutch and Synchroniser Calibration). Ensure transmission oil is between 20°C and 50°C, the parking brake is applied, and the A/C is off. Hold the High and Low range buttons and start the engine. When "CAL" appears, release the buttons. Set the engine speed to 1200 RPM and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the clutch fill calibration.
