Case IH F76 – Transmission Controller (Transmission/EDC): Swapped Engine Torque/RPM Sensor With Either The Mid Or Output Speed Sensors
Issue description
The transmission controller has detected an implausible signal combination, determining that the wiring harness connectors for the Engine Torque/RPM sensor have been physically plugged into either the Transmission Mid Speed Sensor or the Transmission Output Speed Sensor by mistake.

Check the cause
Trace the wiring harness routing to the transmission speed sensors and the engine torque/RPM sensor
Check the wire colors and connector pinouts against the OEM wiring diagram to verify which connector belongs to which sensor
Inspect the pins inside the connectors to ensure they were not bent or damaged when forced onto the wrong sensor
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery ground to prevent electrical shorts.
Locate Sensors
Locate the Engine Torque/RPM sensor, the Transmission Mid Speed Sensor, and the Transmission Output Speed Sensor on the transmission housing.
Swap Connectors
Unplug the incorrectly routed wiring harness connectors and plug them into their correct, respective sensors.
Clear Codes & Calibrate
Reconnect the battery and turn the key switch to the 'ON' position. Perform a Transmission Calibration by setting the engine speed to 1200 ERPM and using the High and Low range buttons until 'CAL' appears on the transmission display.
Test Drive
Operate the tractor to ensure the transmission shifts correctly and that codes F76, F77, or F78 do not return.
