Case IH F80 – Transmission Controller (TCU): Transmission Output Rev/Min Too High For The Selected Gear

This code indicates that the transmission output rotation speed received from the speed sensor and measured by the controller is too high for the currently selected transmission gear.

   Connect a service tool, access the monitor screen, and select 'inst trans output speed' to verify if the sensor is reading erratically

   Test the wiring harness connecting the transmission output speed sensor to the controller for any open or short circuits

   With the sender installed in the transmission, check for a short to earth on each sender terminal

   Check the resistance of the speed sender (should measure approximately 0.8 to 1.2 kOhms at 20°C / 68°F)

   Locate the transmission output speed sensor on the transmission housing.

   Disconnect the electrical connector to the sensor.

   Test the wiring harness for continuity and repair any damaged wires or connectors.

   If the wiring is intact, perform the resistance and short-to-earth tests on the sensor itself.

   If the sensor fails the resistance test (outside 0.8-1.2 kOhms), unthread/remove the faulty sensor from the transmission housing.

   Install the new OEM transmission output speed sensor.

   Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Clear the transmission error codes using the tractor's diagnostic menu or a service tool.
