Check the cause
Check for other error codes that might indicate a broader electrical or charging system issue
Inspect external power supplies to verify that no jump box or incorrect charger is connected and feeding excessive voltage to the system
Check the charging system to ensure the alternator is not overcharging the battery, which can cause system-wide over-voltage faults
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the creeper solenoid for shorts to power, looking for rubbed wires where the solenoid circuit might be touching a higher-voltage supply line
Test the Creeper Solenoid by checking the resistance of the solenoid coil to ensure it has not failed internally
Check the Secondary Controller (CFPS) connections (e.g., connector C330) to ensure they are secure, not damaged, and that the pins are tight
Repair steps
Resolve the Voltage Source
Based on the diagnostics, repair the wiring harness short, replace the faulty alternator, or replace the shorted creeper solenoid.
Reconnect Components
Ensure all harness connectors are firmly seated and locked.
Clear the Code
Use the tractor's diagnostic menu or an electronic service tool to clear the FB5 error code.
Test Operation
Start the tractor and test the system for normal operation. Engage and disengage the creeper gear to ensure the code does not return.
