Case IH FBD – Secondary Controller (CFPS): Clutch D Solenoid Over Voltage

The transmission controller is detecting an abnormally high voltage on the circuit responsible for the Clutch D solenoid.

   Check for other codes: Verify if other error codes are being displayed (such as alternator or general voltage codes) which might indicate a system-wide charging issue rather than an isolated solenoid fault.

   Check the CAN BUS: Measure the resistance between connector C277 pin 1 (Y) and C277 pin 2 (G). If the resistance is approximately 60 Ohms, proceed to the next step. If less than 5 Ohms, there is a short circuit in the CAN BUS wires that must be repaired.

   Test the Solenoid Resistance: Measure the resistance of the Clutch D solenoid directly. It should read between 8 Ohms and 11 Ohms. If outside this range, the solenoid is faulty and must be replaced.

   Check for Positive (+Ve) Voltage Short: Disconnect the secondary controller (CFPS) connector C331. Turn the keystart to the ON position. Measure the voltage between connector C331 pin 5 and ground, and pin 6 and ground. If any voltage is indicated, the harness has a short to power and must be repaired or replaced.

   Safety First

   Park the tractor on a level surface, lower any implements, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery. Relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Locate the transmission control valve block (PMV valve block) where the clutch solenoids are housed. Identify the specific solenoid for Clutch D.

   Disconnect Wiring

   Carefully unplug the weather-sealed electrical connector from the Clutch D solenoid. Inspect the harness plug for any signs of corrosion or melted plastic.

   Remove the Solenoid

   Unbolt the faulty solenoid from the hydraulic valve body.

   Clean and Prep

   Clean the mounting surface on the valve body to ensure no dirt or debris enters the hydraulic system.

   Install the New Part

   Bolt the new solenoid into place.

   Reconnect

   Reconnect the electrical harness to the new solenoid, ensuring the plug clicks securely into place. Reconnect the tractor's battery.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Power up the tractor, clear the FBD error code from the transmission controller, and test the tractor through its gears to ensure normal operation and proper clutch engagement.
