Case IH FC2 – Transmission Control Unit (TCU): High Range Clutch Not Calibrated

A calibration fault indicating that the transmission controller does not have the correct engagement parameters saved for the high range clutch. This condition typically occurs if the transmission has been rebuilt, the software was updated, calibration data was corrupted, or a new uncalibrated controller was installed on the tractor.

   Verify transmission fluid temperature is between 60°C and 105°C (140°F - 220°F). If too cold, calibration will fail.

   Ensure the tractor is parked on a flat surface, clear of obstacles, with the handbrake applied.

   Ensure the engine can hold a steady RPM, as the calibration requires exactly 1200 RPM (± 100 RPM).

   Check for active electrical fault codes for the clutch solenoids (e.g., open circuits or shorts to ground), which prevent calibration.

   Park the tractor on level ground, lower any attached equipment to the ground, and block the front and rear wheels.

   Place all shift levers and the shuttle lever in neutral, and apply the handbrake.

   With the tractor off, press and hold the High and Low range buttons simultaneously, then start the engine.

   Continue holding the buttons until 'CAL' appears in the transmission display, then release the High and Low range buttons.

   Use the hand throttle to set the engine speed to 1200 RPM.

   Follow the on-screen prompts (which may require you to depress and release the clutch pedal) to allow the TCU to cycle and calibrate the clutches, including the high range clutch.

   Once the calibration procedure finishes successfully, the FC2 code will clear.

   If an error occurs during calibration, a 'U' code (e.g., U21 for RPM too low, U26 for clutch pedal not released) will appear, indicating what needs to be corrected before trying again.
