Case IH FCC – Transmission Control Unit (TCU): Clutch C Not Calibrated
Issue description
The transmission controller has lost the calibration values for Clutch C, or a previous calibration procedure was not completed successfully. The primary symptom is poor clutch performance or harsh shifting on the uncalibrated clutch.
Applies to these machines
11 machines- MXM
- MXM 120
- MXM 130
- MXM 140
- MXM 155
- MXM 175
- MXM 190
- Magnum 340
- Puma Series
- Maxxum Series
- Steiger Series
Check the cause
Check Transmission Fluid Temperature: The transmission oil must be warmed up to between 60°C and 105°C (140°F+) for the calibration to run successfully.
Check for Accompanying Solenoid Codes: Look for other active fault codes (e.g., 2031, 2344, FAC, or F1C) that indicate a hard electrical failure. The solenoid or wiring harness must be repaired before calibration is possible.
Safety Check: Ensure the tractor is parked on a flat surface, the parking brake is applied, and the area is clear of bystanders.
Repair steps
Prepare tractor
Move the tractor to an open, flat area free of obstacles.
Warm transmission oil
Warm the transmission oil to at least 60°C (140°F).
Access CONFIG MENU
Turn the key switch to the ON position. Within 10 seconds, press and hold the Enter key on the keypad to access the CONFIG MENU.
Select TCU
Use the down arrow key to highlight TCU in the menu list and press Enter.
Access ETC MENU
Navigate down to the ETC MENU screen and press Enter to access the transmission sub-menus (the TRANS VIEW screen will display).
Access TRANS SETUP
Scroll down to the TRANS SETUP screen and press Enter.
Select Clutch Calibration
Select the Cltch Cal (Clutch Calibration) screen and press Enter.
Verify oil temperature
The screen will display the current oil temperature (Oil Deg). If the temperature is within the 60°C - 105°C range, press Enter to proceed.
Calibrate Clutch C
Follow the on-screen prompts to allow the TCU to automatically cycle and calibrate Clutch C.
Investigate failures
If the calibration fails repeatedly, you will need to investigate the Clutch C solenoid, the hydraulic circuit, or inspect the mechanical clutch pack for worn friction discs.
