Case IH H (and backwards 4) – Hitch Controller: Controller Memory Failure

The system cannot read the calibration values due to an internal EEPROM (memory) failure.

   Verify power and ground to ensure the hitch controller has a solid connection to the battery and is properly grounded, ruling out intermittent power supply or ground drop-out.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors (such as connector C058) for corrosion, backed-out pins, or damaged wires.

   Attempt Calibration

   Perform the hitch controller calibration procedure to see if the module will accept and store new values.

   Clear Codes

   Clear the fault codes from the system.

   Cycle Power

   Cycle the key switch off and back on.

   Replace Controller

   If the 'H h' code returns after cycling the key, the controller's internal memory is permanently defective and the Hitch Control Module must be replaced.
