Case IH H9 – Electronic Draft Control (EDC) module, Suspension Controller, or Central Controller (XCM): Open circuit or short to ground on both raise and lower solenoid circuits

The control module is unable to detect the proper electrical resistance or voltage return from the solenoids responsible for operating the hydraulic lift or suspension system. Note: H9 is actually the Voltmeter Diagnostic Menu used to view live readings, while the actual fault code for this condition is typically 65.

   Enter the H9 Diagnostic Menu on the instrument cluster to verify the operation of the solenoid current circuits

   Perform a 'Wiggle Test' by physically moving the wiring harness near the solenoids and controllers while watching the H9 display for sudden changes

   Inspect the raise/lower solenoid connectors and the Central Controller (XCM) connectors for damage, corrosion, or loose pins

   With the keyswitch OFF, use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the solenoid component to determine if the coil has failed

   Depressurize the System

   Turn the keyswitch OFF and safely depressurize the hydraulic or suspension system.

   Isolate the Valve

   Interchange the raise and lower solenoid valves. Perform a cycle test. If the fault now occurs on the opposite cycle, the solenoid valve assembly is internally faulty.

   Replace the Solenoid

   Remove and replace the faulty solenoid valve assembly.

   Harness Repair

   If the valve is good but the wiring is faulty, locate the damaged wire using the fault code charts. Disconnect the affected connectors, cut away the damaged wire area, twist two bare leads together for each damaged wire, solder them, and wrap each repaired lead tightly with vinyl insulation tape (ensuring at least 50 mm of tape at each end).

   Clear Codes

   Once the repair is complete, use the 'HC' menu (Clear stored Error Codes) to clear the fault and test the system for normal operation.
