Case IH HL – Electronic Hitch Controller (CFPS, GCM1, or EDC): Height limit incorrectly set to perform auto calibration.

A configuration or procedural error indicating that the tractor's hitch control system detects that the height limit setting (controlled by the operator in the cab) is not in the correct position required to allow the Electronic Draft Control (EDC) or hitch auto-calibration routine to proceed.

   Verify the physical position of the hitch height limit control knob/dial on the tractor's right-hand console

   Check for accompanying active hitch fault codes (such as 25, 26, 27, or 28) that might indicate a hard electrical failure

   Test system voltage to ensure the tractor battery circuit output is sufficient (greater than 14.7 volts DC) during the calibration process

   If the knob is set correctly but the code persists, test the resistance and voltage of the height limit potentiometer to ensure it is not damaged or suffering from a wiring harness short

   Abort Calibration

   Stop the current hitch or transmission calibration procedure (often accessed via the 'H1' calibration mode).

   Adjust the Height Limit

   Locate the hitch height limit control dial in the cab and turn it to its maximum (fully raised) position. The system requires the height limit to be maxed out so the hitch can travel through its full range of motion during the auto-calibration sweep.

   Restart Calibration

   Re-enter the calibration mode and initiate the auto-calibration sequence.

   Potentiometer Adjustment/Replacement

   If the HL code reappears despite the knob being in the correct position, access the potentiometer behind the control console. Adjust the potentiometer shaft to ensure it is reading the full sweep. If it fails a multimeter sweep test (showing dead spots, open circuits, or shorts), remove and replace the potentiometer.

   Clear Codes

   Once calibration is successful, use the H-menu (specifically HC) to clear stored error codes.
