Case IH NH2011 – TCU: Clutch Pedal Potentiometer Signal Too Low
Issue description
The transmission controller detects that the voltage signal from the clutch (or inching) pedal potentiometer is lower than the minimum expected value. This low signal suggests a potential issue with the sensor, its wiring, or its calibration, which may affect the proper operation of the clutch system.

Check the cause
Verify the clutch pedal moves freely through its full range of travel without any physical obstructions
Inspect mechanical components to ensure the clutch pedal potentiometer, linkage, and pedal stop bolt are securely installed and not loose
Check the potentiometer signal using the tractor's built-in diagnostics (e.g., 'TRANS VIEW' menu). It should show near 0% when up and 100% when fully depressed
Inspect the wiring harness between the transmission controller and the clutch pedal potentiometer for damage, open circuits, shorts to ground, or a bad ground connection at the right-hand console control box
Check any associated push-button switches activated by the clutch pedal for faults or misadjustment
Repair steps
Address mechanical issues
Tighten any loose components to manufacturer specifications and correct any physical obstructions preventing free pedal movement.
Test the potentiometer
With the potentiometer unplugged, use an ohmmeter to measure resistance between the center terminal and one outer terminal while sweeping the pedal. Resistance should change smoothly. Sudden drops to zero or infinite resistance indicate a defective sensor.
Replace the potentiometer
If the potentiometer fails the resistance test, replace it with a new unit.
Calibrate the transmission/clutch
Perform a clutch/transmission calibration. Procedures vary by model: STX via standard instrumentation display; MX Magnum by holding the program button while turning the key on to enter the configuration menu, then navigating to transmission setup with engine running; Mid-Range Magnum/Puma by holding upshift and downshift (rabbit and turtle) buttons while starting the engine with transmission oil temperature above a certain level. A general quick recalibration method involves leaving the key on, unplugging the potentiometer for 5 seconds, and plugging it back in; the dash should beep and neutral light blink, followed by slowly depressing the clutch pedal until beeping stops.
