Case IH P32 – EMU: Steering Sensor Out Of Range

The voltage signal returning from the steering angle sensor has dropped below the minimum acceptable threshold, which typically points to a short to ground, a wiring harness issue, or an internal failure of the sensor itself.

   Turn the keystart to the OFF position

   Locate and disconnect connector C014 (the steering sensor connector)

   Check for a short to ground on the red, yellow, or black wires of the steering sensor harness

   Check for a short circuit between the red, yellow, and black steering sensor wires themselves

   Trace wiring harness

   If a short is indicated during the diagnostic checks, trace the wiring harness to locate the short.

   Repair wiring

   Repair the damaged wiring if possible.

   Replace steering sensor

   If no short is found in the harness, or if the short is isolated internally within the sensor, replace the steering sensor assembly.

   Verify and calibrate

   Reconnect connector C014 and cycle the key to verify the fault code has cleared. Depending on the model, a steering angle calibration may be required via the H-Menu after installing a new sensor.
