Case IH P3E – Transmission Control Module (PCU): Solenoid valve, data valid but above normal range.

The control module is receiving a valid signal from a transmission solenoid valve circuit, but the electrical value (voltage or current) is drifting higher than the expected normal operating parameters. This is typically caused by a failing solenoid coil (internal resistance issues) or a wiring harness shorting to a high-voltage source.

   Inspect the transmission wiring harness leading to the transmission control valve block for rubbed wires shorting to a high-voltage source.

   Unplug the transmission PWM solenoids and test the resistance across the pins, comparing against OEM specs to identify the specific solenoid that is out of range.

   Verify the connections at the Transmission Control Module (PCU) to ensure there is no corrosion causing high resistance or voltage bleed-over.

   Isolate and Replace

   Once the faulty PWM solenoid valve is identified via multimeter testing, relieve any residual hydraulic pressure and remove the faulty solenoid from the transmission valve block.

   Install New Solenoid

   Install the replacement solenoid valve and reconnect the wiring harness.

   Transmission Calibration

   Perform a Transmission/EDC Calibration (H1 Clutch and Synchroniser calibration). Block the wheels (front and rear) and lower all equipment to the ground. Place all shift levers in neutral. Hold the High and Low range buttons and start the engine. Release the buttons when 'CAL' appears on the transmission display. Set the engine speed to 1200 RPM. Follow the on-screen prompts to calibrate the clutches until 'END' is displayed.
