Case IH P7B – Pump Control Unit (PCU): EEPROM Checksum In PCU, Data Valid But Above Normal Range
Issue description
This indicates an internal memory failure within the control unit. The EEPROM stores critical calibration data and operating maps. A checksum error means the module has detected that its own internal memory is corrupted, unreadable, or has been altered by a voltage spike, preventing it from verifying its own data. When this occurs, the engine will typically enter a derated (reduced power) mode.

Check the cause
Hard Reset / Power Cycle: Turn the ignition off and wait for at least 5 seconds, then turn it back on. If the fault code clears and does not return, it may have been a temporary glitch.
Check Power and Grounds: Inspect the wiring harness, ground straps, and battery voltage going to the injection pump. Severe voltage drops or alternator spikes are a common cause of EEPROM corruption.
Verify Symptoms: Check if the warning lamp is illuminated and if the engine is experiencing a noticeable reduction in power, which confirms the PCU is in a protective state.
Repair steps
Verify the Defect
If the code persists after a 5-second key cycle, the PCU must be repaired or replaced.
Removal
Disconnect the battery. Remove the intake/charge pipes or brackets necessary to access the fuel injection pump.
Component Servicing
Remove the PCU from the top of the pump or remove the entire fuel injection pump assembly and send it to a certified Bosch service agency for repair.
Installation & Calibration
Once the repaired or new PCU/Pump is reinstalled, use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) laptop to program the new PCU.
Syncing
Using the EST, write the injection pump serial number and the pump map to the new EEM (Engine Electronic Management) controller so the tractor's main ECU recognizes the new pump module.
Parts you might need
(1)Pump Control Unit (PCU) / Fuel Injection Pump Assembly
Case IH does not typically sell the bare PCU circuit board directly; it is usually serviced as a complete Fuel Injection Pump Assembly or repaired via a third-party Bosch diesel service center. You will need to pull the Bosch tag number directly off the side of your existing injection pump to order the correct replacement.
