Case IH P80 – XCM (Central Control Module / Electronic Hydraulic Remote Controller): Incorrect code displayed because of XCM software

A known software bug within the tractor's control logic is generating phantom or incorrect diagnostic trouble codes (often related to the Rear PTO or Electronic Hydraulic Remotes). The system logs P80 to explicitly alert the technician that the codes currently being displayed are invalid and that a software update is required to fix the logic error.

   Access the tractor's onboard H-Menu (menu H4) to verify the current software revision level of the XCM Controller

   Determine if the tractor is experiencing actual physical malfunctions with the Rear PTO or remotes, or if it is operating normally but throwing phantom codes

   Perform a standard test of all switch circuits connecting to the ground to rule out low voltage or bad grounds exacerbating module logic errors

   Connect Diagnostic Tool

   Connect the proprietary Case IH EST (Electronic Service Tool) to the tractor's diagnostic port.

   Flash the Module

   Download and install the latest software version to the XCM controller to patch the bug causing the incorrect code displays.

   Reset Memory

   Navigate to the onboard H-Menu and select H8 to perform a non-volatile memory reset for the XCM Controller.

   Recalibrate Systems

   Recalibrate the Electronic Hydraulic Remotes (EHR) via menu H1 and the PTO clutch via menu H2.

   Clear Codes

   Navigate to menu HB to view and clear any remaining stored error codes. Test the tractor to ensure P80 does not return.
