Case IH P8F – Pump Control Unit (PCU) and Engine Control Module (ECM): Fuel Injection Pump Temperature, Data Incorrect

The internal fuel injection pump temperature sensor signal range is outside threshold limits, or the signal is not plausible/incorrect. The engine remains enabled with no restriction on fuel or speed.

   Inspect the fuel cooler and fuel return lines for blockages or physical damage

   Verify that the engine cooling fan is operating at the correct speed

   Inspect the Pump Control Unit (PCU) connector C273, the front main harness connector C269, and the Engine Control Module (ECM) connectors C315 and C316

   Check the fuel cooler and the fuel return lines.

   If damaged or blocked, clean, repair, or replace as required. If they are okay, proceed to Step 2.

   Check the engine cooling fan speed.

   If the speed is incorrect, repair or replace the fan/fan drive as required. If the fan is operating correctly, proceed to Step 3.

   Check the PCU (C273), front main harness (C269), and ECM (C315, C316) connectors.

   Repair or replace any faulty wiring or connectors.

   Remove and replace the fuel injection pump.

   If all connectors, cooling systems, and fuel lines are okay, the internal sensor has failed.

   Clear the error code using the service tool and test the system for normal operation.

   Perform this once the cause has been rectified.
