Issue description
This indicates a communication or sensor scaling issue on the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus. The control unit is successfully receiving the Vehicle Electronic (VE) message regarding the operator's speed setpoint, and the data packet is valid, but the actual value being reported is higher than the maximum normal operating range allowed by the system's parameters. Check the cause
Check for accompanying CAN codes (such as tCA, tCB, tCC, tCD) which indicate a broader CAN bus short or initialization failure.
Perform a sensor voltage sweep using a multimeter or diagnostic tool to monitor the speed setpoint sensor voltage, verifying if it spikes above the 4.5V–5.0V reference limit.
Inspect the wiring harness between the speed setpoint sensor, the VE controller, and the TCM for chafing, pinched wires, or corrosion.
Enter the tractor's H-Menu (diagnostic mode) to view live data for the speed setpoint and verify the exact value the TCM is receiving.
Repair steps
Disconnect Battery
Always disconnect the negative battery terminal before repairing CAN bus wiring or replacing electronic sensors.
Inspect and Clean Connectors
Disconnect the plug at the throttle/speed setpoint potentiometer. Clean the pins with electronic contact cleaner and check for pushed-back pins or moisture intrusion.
Test the Potentiometer
If the wiring is intact but the sensor is reading out of range, remove the accelerator pedal potentiometer or hand throttle sensor. Test its resistance with a multimeter while sweeping it through its range of motion. If there are dead spots or the resistance jumps out of specification, the sensor is faulty.
Replace the Sensor
Install the new potentiometer/sensor. Ensure it is seated correctly so the mechanical linkage does not push it past its physical stops.
Recalibrate
Reconnect the battery. You must perform an electronic calibration of the transmission and speed sensors using the tractor's H-Menu (Calibration Guide) so the PCU learns the new minimum and maximum voltage values of the replacement sensor.
Clear Codes
Clear the TB6 fault code and test drive the tractor to ensure the speed setpoint responds normally without throwing the code again.
