Case IH PCF – PCU (Power Control Unit): PCU Power Supply, Data Valid But Below Normal Range
Issue description
This is an undervoltage condition indicating that the voltage being supplied to the control unit is recognized as a valid data signal, but it has dropped below the minimum acceptable operating threshold required for the module to function correctly.

Check the cause
Test the battery voltage and alternator output to ensure the tractor's main electrical system is generating adequate power (typically 12V-14V).
Inspect the wiring harness and the main connectors supplying power to the PCU. Look for corrosion, backed-out pins, or chafed wires that could cause a voltage drop.
Test the fuses and relays associated with the PCU power circuit in the main distribution box.
Use the tractor's built-in diagnostic system (H-Menu) or a CNH Electronic Service Tool to read the live voltage data directly at the PCU to confirm the voltage drop is reaching the module.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the tractor's battery before beginning electrical repairs to prevent short circuits.
Clean and Secure Connections
Locate the PCU and disconnect its main harness. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and ensure all pins are tight and free of moisture or corrosion.
Repair Wiring
If a voltage drop was traced to a specific wire between the battery/fuse box and the PCU, repair or replace that section of the wiring harness.
Replace Relays/Fuses
Replace any weak relays or blown fuses in the PCU power supply circuit.
Test the System
Reconnect the battery and turn the key switch to the 'ON' position. Check the digital instrument cluster to see if the TD0 code has cleared.
Replace the PCU
If the wiring, relays, and power source are verified to be providing full voltage to the connector, but the PCU still registers an internal undervoltage fault, the PCU itself has failed and must be replaced.
Recalibrate
If the PCU is replaced, or if its non-volatile memory is reset during repair, you must perform a Transmission/EDC Calibration (e.g., H1 Clutch and Synchroniser Calibration). This requires setting the engine speed to 1200 ERPM and using the diagnostic switch special tool (No. 380000488) to initiate the calibration sequence.
