Case IH R11 – EHR (Electronic Hydraulic Remote) Controller: EHR Control Unit 1 Float Switch Error
Issue description
The R11 fault code indicates an error with the float switch on the Electronic Hydraulic Remote (EHR) lever #1. The system's controller is unable to correctly detect the float position of the lever. This is typically caused by a failing potentiometer/switch inside the armrest lever assembly, an out-of-calibration lever, or a wiring harness issue.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- MXM
- MXM Series
- Magnum Series
- Steiger / Quadtrac Series
- Puma Series
Check the cause
Check the H-Menu (Diagnostics), specifically H5 on MXM models, to test the switch inputs and verify if the controller is registering any movement from lever #1.
Inspect the wiring harness from the armrest controls to the EHR controller for continuity, shorts, or loose pins.
Attempt recalibration of the EHR levers. For Magnum/Steiger, use the A-Post Calibration Method. For MXM, use the EIC/Dash Method.
Evaluate calibration results. If the lever fails to calibrate, or if the green cylinder light on the A-post stays illuminated when the lever is physically in neutral, the internal potentiometer/switch has failed.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
Access the Armrest
Remove the screws securing the top cover of the armrest console to expose the EHR lever assemblies.
Remove the Faulty Lever
Locate EHR lever #1 (the levers are numbered left to right). Unplug the electrical connector at the base of the lever.
Unbolt the Assembly
Remove the mounting hardware holding the lever block in place and pull the faulty lever assembly out.
Install the New Part
Seat the new EHR lever assembly into the armrest console, secure it with the mounting hardware, and plug in the electrical connector.
Reassemble
Reinstall the armrest cover.
Mandatory Calibration
Reconnect the battery. You must perform the EHR lever calibration procedure (using the tractor's onboard diagnostic menu or the Case IH EST tool) so the controller can learn the new lever's specific neutral, extend, retract, and float voltage parameters.
