Case IH R13 – Central Controller (XCM): CAN Messages Received By The EHR Valve 1 Are Corrupted Or Missing

This code indicates a communication failure on the tractor's Controller Area Network (CAN) bus. Specifically, the central controller is either receiving corrupted data or no data at all from the number 1 Electronic Hydraulic Remote (EHR) valve.

   Check the CAN-BUS wiring harness and connectors between the remote valves and the central controller for pinched wires, corrosion, or loose pins at the EHR Valve 1 connector.

   Verify that the in-cab switches are functioning properly (can be checked in the HH menu > H5 on the instrument cluster).

   Attempt to perform the EHR valve renumbering and calibration procedure to see if the central controller can successfully recognize the valve.

   Inspect and Repair Wiring

   If any faults are found in the electrical system between the remotes and the central controller, repair the CAN-BUS wiring or replace the damaged connector.

   EHR Valve Renumbering Procedure

   With all the remote valves connected to the harness, install the OEM diagnostic test switch (Tool No. 380000488). Turn the Key Start switch to the "ON" position. Navigate the instrument cluster display to select H-menu Mode HL. Operate the No.1 EHR Valve timer switch 3 times in quick succession to activate the renumbering procedure.

   Software Flash

   If the valves are still inoperative and the R13 code persists after renumbering, you must re-load the software into the central controller (this typically requires a dealer with the CIH EST diagnostic tool).

   Component Replacement

   If the fault still persists after the software has been re-loaded, the central controller processor or the EHR Valve 1 itself has failed internally and must be replaced.
