Case IH R2 – EHR (Electronic Hydraulic Remote) Controller or Armrest Control Module: EHR Control Unit 2 Lever Not Calibrated
Issue description
The system does not recognize the position limits of the control lever for Electronic Hydraulic Remote (EHR) valve #2. The controller cannot determine the lever's neutral, float, raise, or lower positions, which typically results in the system locking out hydraulic functions for that specific remote to prevent unintended operation.

Check the cause
Check for associated offline errors (e.g., EHR 2 Offline Err - 4191) or voltage/switch errors (e.g., R11, R12, R14) indicating a hard electrical failure rather than a calibration loss.
Perform a Switch/Lever Test (H-Menu) to verify the controller is reading switch/lever inputs when lever #2 is moved.
Test wiring harness continuity from the armrest controls to the EHR controller, and from the controller to the remote valve pilot heads at the rear.
Check the mechanical feel of the lever to ensure it moves smoothly without physical binding or jerky inputs.
Repair steps
Prepare for calibration
Ensure the tractor is parked, engine running at the specified RPM (often 1200 RPM), and hydraulic oil is up to operating temperature.
Enter calibration mode
On MXM models, hold the High and Low range buttons while starting the engine to enter the H1 menu, or use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) on newer Magnums/Pumas.
Move lever through full range
Follow the instrument cluster prompts to move lever #2 through its full range of motion: pull fully back into the raise detent, push forward into lower, and push fully forward into the float detent.
Restart tractor
If the cluster displays 'END' or accepts the values, restart the tractor to see if the code clears.
Isolate faulty component
If the lever values will not register during calibration, swap the electrical connector from remote #2 to remote #3. If the fault follows the valve, the pilot head on the valve body is faulty. If the fault stays with lever #2, the armrest lever assembly is faulty.
Replace faulty component
Replace the faulty component (pilot head or armrest lever).
Reassign valve addresses and recalibrate
After replacing a pilot head, you must use the Case IH EST laptop to reassign the valve addresses so the controller knows which lever controls the new valve, followed by a final calibration.
