Case IH R47 – XCM: No communication between the EHR valve 4 and the central controller (XCM)

This indicates a CAN bus communication failure between the tractor's central control module and the integrated controller on the #4 Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) valve.

   Resolve any other active error codes present on the machine first, as R47 is often a secondary symptom of a broader CAN bus or power issue

   Use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check the status of the auxiliary controllers

   Inspect the wiring harness, CAN bus lines, and connectors between the XCM and EHR Valve 4 for continuity, shorts, or corrosion

   Inspect Wiring

   Physically trace the harness from the XCM to EHR Valve 4. Repair any broken wires or clean corroded connector pins.

   Component Replacement

   If the wiring is intact and the EST cannot communicate with EHR Valve 4, the EHR valve (or its integrated controller) or the XCM may need to be replaced.

   Calibration

   If an EHR valve or the XCM is replaced, you must recalibrate the system using the tractor's H-Menu. Install diagnostic test switch tool (OEM No. 380000488) into the diagnostic connector (C126). Turn the Key Start switch ON and select H-menu Mode HL (EHR Valve Number Reprogramming). Operate the EHR Valve timer switch 3 times in quick succession to activate the procedure and follow the Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC) prompts to assign the valve.
