Case IH R57 – Central Controller (XCM): No Communication Between The EHR Valve 5 And The Central Controller (XCM)

The CAN bus communication link between the tractor's Central Controller (XCM) and the Electronic Hydraulic Remote (EHR) Valve #5 has been lost or interrupted.

   Check the wiring harness routing from the in-cab controls to the XCM controller, and from the XCM controller to the rear remote valves for chafed wires, loose pins, or corrosion

   Verify that EHR Valve 5 is receiving proper 12V power and has a solid ground connection

   Perform a CAN bus continuity and voltage check to ensure the communication network is intact

   Hook up the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check the AUX controller status and see if the XCM can detect the valve on the network

   EHR Valve Reprogramming / Memory Reset (H-Menu Mode HL)

   Ensure all remote valves are connected to the harness. Install the diagnostic test switch (Case IH Tool No. 380000488). Turn the Key Start switch to the 'ON' position and navigate the instrument cluster to H-menu Mode HL. Operate the No. 1 EHR Valve timer switch 3 times in quick succession to activate the reset procedure. The display will show the number 3, followed by 2, 1, and then 'END'. This erases the corrupted memory from the controller.

   Recalibration

   After the memory is cleared, navigate to H-menu Mode H1 to recalibrate the remote valves. Follow the on-screen prompts to cycle the levers into their detent positions.

   Software/Hardware Replacement

   If the valve still fails to communicate or calibrate, the XCM controller may require a software re-flash by a local Case IH dealer. If the software is up to date, either the EHR Valve 5 electronic spool section or the XCM controller itself has failed internally and must be replaced.
