Case IH t19 – Engine Control Module (ECM) / Tractor Control Unit: Fuel Quantity Shut-Off, Data Valid But Above Normal Range
Issue description
The control module is receiving a signal from the fuel shut-off solenoid circuit that is recognizable (data valid) but the electrical value (such as voltage or resistance) exceeds the normal operating threshold. This typically points to high resistance in the circuit, a failing solenoid coil, or a wiring issue.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness connecting the ECM to the fuel shut-off solenoid for chafing, melting, or partial shorts that could cause an out-of-range signal.
Check the electrical connector at the solenoid for dirt, moisture, or corrosion, which can artificially increase circuit resistance.
Use a multimeter to test the resistance of the fuel shut-off solenoid coil. Compare the reading against OEM specifications to see if the internal coil is failing.
Verify the voltage supply to the solenoid (typically 12V) to ensure it is receiving stable power without excessive spikes.
Repair steps
Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.
Locate the fuel shut-off solenoid, which is mounted directly on the fuel injection pump.
Disconnect the electrical wiring harness connector from the solenoid.
Clean the area around the injection pump and solenoid to prevent dirt and debris from entering the fuel system.
Remove the mounting hardware (bolts or threaded fitting) securing the solenoid to the injection pump.
Carefully extract the old solenoid and remove its O-ring/gasket.
Install the new fuel shut-off solenoid, ensuring a new O-ring/gasket is used to create a proper seal.
Tighten the mounting hardware securely.
Reconnect the electrical harness connector to the new solenoid.
Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition on, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the T19 fault code. Start the engine to verify the repair.
