Case IH t1F – Engine Control Unit (ECU) or Electronic Management Unit (EMU) / Digital Instrument Cluster (EIC): Monitoring Module, Shorted To High Source
Issue description
The system has detected that the voltage on the monitoring module's circuit is abnormally high. This typically indicates a "short to battery" (12V power supply) within the wiring harness, a sensor circuit, or an internal failure within the module itself.

Check the cause
Turn the Keyswitch OFF and disconnect the battery or pull the specified fuse to prevent false readings
Disconnect the affected connectors at the monitoring module and the ECU. Inspect the connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or pins that have been pushed back
Reconnect the battery (with the module still unplugged) and turn the key ON. Use a multimeter to probe the monitoring module's signal wire. If it reads 12 volts, the wire is shorted to a high power source somewhere in the harness
Set the multimeter to Ohms. Test the circuit for continuity from end to end, and ensure there is no unintended continuity between the signal wire and the power supply wires
Repair steps
Isolate the Short
If the multimeter tests confirm a short to a high source, trace the wiring harness routing from the monitoring module back to the ECU. Look for areas where the harness outer covering has rubbed through against the chassis or engine block.
Repair the Harness
If a damaged wire is found, cut out the shorted section. Use an OEM-approved harness repair kit to splice in a new section of wire, ensuring you use weather-sealed heat shrink connectors.
Module Replacement (If Necessary)
If the wiring harness tests perfectly fine (no shorts, proper continuity), the internal circuitry of the monitoring module or ECU has likely failed and is shorting the reference voltage internally. Replace the module.
Reassembly and Calibration
Reconnect all harnesses. If the microprocessor/module was replaced or the non-volatile memory was reset, you must perform a system calibration (such as the Transmission/EDC Calibration) using the tractor's H-Menu or an Electronic Service Tool.
Clear Codes
Cycle the key, start the engine, and verify that the t1F code has moved from "Active" to "Stored," then clear the code.
