Case IH t21 – Engine Control Module (ECM): After-Run Not Completed, Data Valid But Above Normal Range
Issue description
The engine control module's after-run monitoring process was not completed successfully. The data received by the system is valid, but it falls above the normal operating threshold. The system typically defaults to an 'Engine enabled' state with no restriction on fuel or speed when this code is active.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- MXM
- Case IH MXM Series (MXM 120, 130, 140, 155, 175, 190)
- Case IH MX/TG Series
- Case IH Maxxum
- Case IH Puma
Check the cause
Check battery voltage to ensure it is not too low, as low voltage can interrupt the after-run sequence.
Check if the ignition supply has been excessively keyed on and off, which can trigger this fault.
Locate and test the Engine Control Module main relay (Relay K7) for faults or sticking.
Repair steps
Turn off the tractor and remove the key from the ignition.
Test the battery with a multimeter.
If the voltage is low, charge the battery or replace it if it fails a load test.
Locate the fuse and relay panel and identify the ECM Main Relay (K7).
Remove the K7 relay and inspect the socket for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or melted plastic.
Clean the contacts if necessary.
Test the relay for proper switching.
If the relay is faulty, stuck open, or fails to shut off properly, replace it with a new OEM relay.
Reconnect the battery (if disconnected), turn the ignition on, and use a diagnostic service tool to clear the fault codes.
Run the tractor through a standard operating cycle and shut it down.
Verify the after-run sequence completes and the code does not return.
