t32

Case IH t32 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Engine Management System: Boost Air Pressure Sensor, Open Circuit Or Current Below Normal Range

Issue description

The control module is receiving a signal from the boost air pressure sensor that is below the minimum expected threshold. This is typically caused by a disconnected sensor, a broken wire (open circuit) in the harness, or an internal failure of the sensor itself.

Applies to these machines

  • MXM
  • MXM Series
  • MXM 120
  • MXM 130
  • MXM 140
  • MXM 155
  • MXM 175
  • MXM 190
  • Maxxum
  • Puma
  • Magnum
  • Axial-Flow 5130
  • Axial-Flow 7120
  • Axial-Flow 8240

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the boost air pressure (MAP) sensor for any signs of chafing, breaks, or physical damage.

  2. Disconnect the sensor and inspect the electrical connector for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out pins that could cause an open circuit.

  3. Use a multimeter to verify the sensor's reference voltage and ground at the connector.

  4. Perform a continuity test on the signal wire between the sensor connector and the ECU to confirm or rule out a break in the wiring harness.

Repair steps

  1. Turn off the machine's ignition and disconnect the battery if you need to perform wiring repairs.

  2. If your diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or a damaged connector, repair the wiring harness or splice in a new connector pigtail.

  3. If the wiring and voltage supply are intact, the sensor itself has likely failed internally. Unbolt and remove the faulty boost air pressure sensor from the intake manifold.

  4. Install the replacement boost air pressure sensor and securely click the electrical connector back into place.

  5. Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position, and clear the stored fault codes.

  6. Start the engine and verify that fault code t32 does not return.
