Case IH t47 – Engine Control Module (ECM): CAN CCVSS Message, Data Valid But Above Normal Range

The vehicle speed signal being sent from the central controller to the engine control module is faulty, implausible, or reading higher than the normal operating range.

   Check for swapped connectors between the transmission mid-speed sensor and the output speed sensor (most frequent cause after maintenance)

   Inspect transmission mid-speed sensor connector (C037) and output speed sensor connector (C038) for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or wire chafing

   Check system voltage by running the engine at 2000 RPM to ensure the alternator is not overcharging (greater than ~15 Volts can skew sensor data)

   Locate the Sensors

   Locate the transmission mid-speed sensor and the output speed sensor on the transmission housing.

   Verify Connector Routing

   Inspect connectors C037 (mid-speed) and C038 (output speed). If they have been swapped, disconnect them and route them to their correct respective sensors.

   Repair/Replace

   If the connectors are routed correctly but the wiring is damaged, repair the harness. If the wiring is intact, the speed sensor itself has likely failed internally and must be replaced.

   Clear the Code

   Once the physical repair is made, use the tractor's H-Menu or an external service tool to clear the error code from the ECM/XCM memory.

   Test Operation

   Test drive the tractor to verify that the speedometer reads accurately, cruise control functions normally, and the code does not return.
