Case IH tC – PCU (Powertrain Control Unit) and Transmission/EDC (Electronic Draft Control): Ambient pressure sensor (phy), data valid but below normal range

Issue description

The control unit is receiving a signal from the ambient (barometric) pressure sensor that is electrically valid (not an open circuit or a direct short), but the pressure value being reported is lower than the normal expected atmospheric operating range.

Check the cause

  1. Verify if the sensor is shorted to a high source (which would trigger related code tF / 108-3)

  2. Check if the data is simply incorrect or erratic (which would trigger code tD / 108-2) or above the normal range (code tE / 108-0)

  3. Connect the Electronic Service Tool to monitor the live ambient pressure sensor data and compare it to actual local barometric pressure to confirm if the sensor has drifted out of calibration

Repair steps

  1. Prepare machine for calibration

    Lower all equipment to the ground and place all shift levers in neutral.

  2. Secure machine

    Block the front and rear wheels.

  3. Initiate calibration mode

    Press and hold the High and Low range buttons, then start the engine.

  4. Wait for CAL display

    Release the buttons when ''CAL'' appears in the transmission display.

  5. Set engine speed

    Set the engine speed to 1200 ERPM (± 100).

  6. Calibrate clutches

    Follow the display prompts to calibrate the clutches until ''END'' displays, signifying completion.
