Case IH tE1 – Digital Instrument Cluster (EIC) or Powertrain Control Unit (PCU) / Transmission Controller: Transmission oil plausibility error (transmission oil temperature signal out of limits)

Triggered when the transmission oil temperature is reading greater than 115 degrees Celsius, or when the transmission oil temperature AND the engine coolant temperature are both reading greater than 85 degrees Celsius.

   Verify actual fluid temperatures to ensure the transmission is not genuinely overheating due to mechanical strain or low fluid levels.

   Check live data for both the transmission oil temperature and engine coolant temperature sensors to identify if one is reading artificially high (sensor plausibility check).

   Inspect the wiring harness and circuitry for the transmission oil temperature sensor for corrosion, shorts, or open circuits (look for related codes INST 13021 or INST 13022).

   Secure the machine

   Park the tractor on a level surface, place all shift levers in neutral, block the front and rear wheels, and turn off the engine.

   Locate and disconnect sensor

   Locate the transmission oil temperature sensor on the transmission housing and disconnect its electrical harness.

   Inspect and replace sensor

   Inspect the connector for corrosion. If the sensor is deemed faulty based on diagnostic checks, unthread the old sensor and install the replacement.

   Reconnect and top off fluid

   Reconnect the electrical harness and top off any transmission fluid lost during the swap.

   Prepare for calibration

   According to the MXM Series Calibration Guide, if a potentiometer/sensor has been replaced or a mechanical repair has been effected, a Transmission/EDC Calibration Set Up Procedure is required.

   Perform calibration

   Press and hold the High and Low range buttons and start the engine. 'CAL' will appear in the transmission display. Release the buttons. Set the engine speed to 1200 ERPM (± 100). Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the clutch and synchronizer calibration.
