Case IH U – Hitch Controller (TMF): Hitch up/down switch failed

The Data Bus has signaled a failure in the hitch up/down switch. The underlying condition is usually a hardware failure of the switch itself inside the armrest, though it can occasionally be triggered by a software execution error in the controller.

   Check for companion code ARM 1049 at the armrest controller to confirm the failure is localized to the armrest controller's switch circuit.

   Test switch connector (J210) voltages: Verify 12-volt switch power at J210-5, hitch down signal at J210-1, hitch fast down signal at J210-3, and hitch up signal at J210-4.

   Verify switch positions by testing continuity across the switch in its three physical states: Position A (Hitch up), Position B (Center position), and Position C (Momentary down).

   Place switch in neutral

   If the hitch has raised out of limit or is locked out due to the fault, perform the OEM reset procedure first: Place the up/down switch into the center (neutral) position.

   Move control lever

   Move the armrest position control lever to the maximum setting.

   Press and hold switch

   Press and hold the up/down switch to the momentary (down) position and hold it until the hitch lowers.

   Power down tractor

   If the switch is electrically dead (failed continuity test), power down the tractor and disconnect the battery.

   Disassemble armrest console

   Disassemble the armrest control console to access the underside of the hitch control switch.

   Disconnect wiring harness

   Disconnect the J210 wiring harness connector from the switch.

   Remove switch

   Depress the retaining tabs on the switch body and push it upward out of the armrest bezel.

   Install new switch

   Snap the new OEM switch into the armrest console.

   Reconnect wiring harness

   Reconnect the J210 harness, ensuring the connector is fully seated and locked.

    Reassemble and clear codes

    Reassemble the armrest console, reconnect the battery, and clear the HITCH 1010 / TMF 25 / ARM 1049 fault codes from the system.

    Calibrate hitch

    Calibrate/test the hitch to ensure full range of motion.
