U08

Case IH U08 – Electronic Management Unit (EMU): Suspension Is Unable To Reach Maximum Height Within 20 Seconds

Issue description

This error typically occurs during the tractor's Auto Calibration Procedure (ACP) or during standard operation when the front axle suspension system fails to lift to its maximum programmed position within the allotted 20-second timeframe.

Applies to these machines

  • Puma/Mid Range Magnum
  • MXM
  • Case IH MXM Series
  • MXM 120
  • MXM 130
  • MXM 140
  • MXM 155
  • MXM 175
  • MXM 190
  • Case IH Maxxum Series
  • Case IH Puma Series
  • Case IH CVX Series

Check the cause

  1. Check the raise valve installation.

  2. Check the unload solenoid 'GREEN' installation.

  3. Check the physical suspension mechanics for binding or damage.

  4. Check the system hydraulic pressure.

  5. Disconnect any attached implement to remove excess load from the tractor.

Repair steps

  1. Unload the Machine

Disconnect any implements from the tractor to ensure the suspension is not fighting excess weight.

  2. Mechanical Inspection

Inspect the front axle suspension mechanics. Look for physical obstructions, binding pivot points, or damaged linkages that would prevent the axle from traveling its full range.

  3. Hydraulic Testing

Test the hydraulic pressure going to the suspension accumulators and valve block to ensure the pump is delivering adequate pressure to lift the axle.

  4. Valve & Solenoid Inspection

Locate the suspension valve block. Inspect the installation and wiring harness of the Raise Valve and the Unload Solenoid (Green). Look for loose connections, damaged wires, or sticking valves.

  5. Potentiometer Check

Inspect the front axle position potentiometer and its linkage. If the linkage is bent or the sensor is out of range, the controller will not know the suspension's true height.

  6. Recalibration

If a mechanical repair is made, a potentiometer is replaced, or a PWM solenoid valve is replaced, you must warm up the transmission oil and repeat the Auto Calibration Procedure (ACP).

Parts you might need

Replaces 84428435, 83983693, 83980855. Alternative part numbers depending on the exact model year include 87605245 and 3665385M1 (replaces 340407A1, 452155A1, 710055A1). Fits Case IH MXM, Maxxum, and MX series tractors.

  • Suspension Raise Valve

Not explicitly listed in the catalogs searched; refer to the specific machine's EDC/Suspension valve block diagram.

  • Unload Solenoid ('GREEN')

Not explicitly listed; identified by the green color coding on the suspension valve block.
