U115

Case IH U115 – EPL Module: Shuttle lever not in the park position

Issue description

This code indicates that the system is not detecting the shuttle lever (forward/reverse control lever) in the Park position when it expects to, or there is a signal failure on the circuit communicating the lever's position.

Check the cause

  1. Disconnect the harness and check for continuity on the wires leading to Pins A4 and C7 of the EPL module to ensure they are not cut or broken (open circuit).

  2. Use a multimeter to test Pins A4 and C7 for continuity to the chassis ground to check for a short to ground.

  3. Turn the key ON and test Pins A4 and C7 with a multimeter to ensure they are not receiving unintended supply voltage (12V) from a chafed wire.

  4. If the wiring harness passes all tests, inspect the shuttle lever for internal mechanical or electrical failure.

Repair steps

  1. Wiring Repair

If your multimeter tests reveal a short to ground, short to voltage, or an open circuit on pins A4 or C7, trace the harness between the shuttle lever and the EPL module. Repair or replace the damaged section of the wiring harness.

  2. Component Replacement

If the wiring is fully intact and tests within specification, the shuttle lever itself has failed internally. Remove the steering column shrouds, disconnect the shuttle lever harness, unbolt the lever assembly, and install a new shuttle lever.

  3. Clear and Verify

After repairing the wiring or replacing the lever, clear the fault codes. Cycle the shuttle lever through Forward, Neutral, Reverse, and Park to ensure the EPL module recognizes all positions and the U115 code does not return.
