Case IH U119 – Electronic System module: Bowden cable not connected

The mechanical push-pull cable (Bowden cable) that links the operator's control lever in the cab to the rear hydraulic remote valve spool or hitch mechanism is physically disconnected, broken, or has excessive slack, preventing the electronic system from detecting proper actuation.

   Inspect the cab controls by removing the necessary trim on the right-hand armrest or side console to verify the cable is securely attached to the lever linkage.

   Inspect the rear hydraulic remote valve block (or Lift-O-Matic hitch mechanism) to verify the cable's ball joint, terminal, or fork is securely connected to the valve spool.

   Check the entire visible length of the Bowden cable for signs of a snapped inner core wire, frayed housing, binding, or heavy stickiness.

   Ensure the cable has not slipped off its mounting bracket or lost a retaining clip.

   Reconnect (If Intact)

   If the diagnostic check reveals the cable has simply popped off, reattach it to the ball joint or fork at the lever or valve end and secure it with the appropriate retaining clips.

   Access the Routing

   If the cable is broken or seized, remove the interior console panels in the cab to fully access the control levers. Remove any rear covers or shielding at the rear hydraulic block to access the remote valves.

   Disconnect the Old Cable

   Detach the damaged Bowden cable from both the cab lever and the rear remote valve spool. Unbolt any retaining brackets or P-clips holding the cable along its routing path.

   Route the New Cable

   Route the replacement Bowden cable exactly as the old one was routed. Ensure there are no sharp bends, kinks, or pinch points that could cause the new high-tensile inner wire to bind inside its armored conduit.

   Connect and Adjust

   Connect the new cable to the remote valve and the cab control lever. Adjust the cable linkage and tension so that the full stroke of the control lever corresponds accurately to the full travel of the hydraulic valve spool without any "slop" or slack.

   Test

   Test the mechanical remote valve operation to ensure smooth actuation before reinstalling the cab panels and rear covers.
