Case IH U124 – Transmission Controller / Universal Controller: PTO Speed Select Switch Issue

The system detects that the PTO speed select switch is either in the wrong position or providing an incorrect signal for the optional speed setting.

   Verify the physical position of the PTO speed selector switch to ensure it is not accidentally left in the 1000 or Neutral (N) position when optional speed is required

   Use the tractor's universal controller or onboard diagnostic testing modes to conduct a voltmeter diagnostic, checking for low or high voltage alerts in the switch circuit

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the PTO speed selector switch for incorrect wiring, damaged pins, or open circuits

   Test the speed selector switch itself for internal faults using a multimeter to check continuity

   Correct Operator Error

   If the switch was simply in the wrong position, move the selector switch to the correct optional speed position.

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks reveal a wiring issue, repair or replace the damaged sections of the selector switch wiring harness.

   Replace the Switch

   If the wiring is correct but the switch fails continuity/voltage tests, remove the faulty PTO speed selector switch and install a new OEM replacement.

   Clear Stored Fault Codes

   After the physical repair is complete, access the universal controller's diagnostic menu. Navigate to the specific menu that handles fault codes, select the option to erase the stored information (e.g., clearing the EEPROM data), and confirm the command to clear the U124 code.
