Case IH U15 – CCM-LWB: Valve 30 and Valve 31 Connectors Swapped

Issue description

The electrical connectors for Valve 30 (upper lockout) and Valve 31 (lower lockout) have been swapped. This prevents the front axle suspension system from operating correctly, often causing the suspension to remain locked out and unable to cushion the ride.

Applies to these machines

  • Magnum MX210
  • Magnum MX230
  • Magnum MX255
  • Magnum MX285
  • Magnum 290
  • Magnum 310
  • Magnum 315
  • Magnum 335
  • Magnum 340
  • Puma 165
  • Puma 180
  • Puma 195
  • Puma 210
  • Puma 225 CVX

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the lockout solenoids wiring harness near the front suspension block (often near the bottom of the fan shroud) for damage, poor routing, or swapped connectors.

  2. Ensure Valve 30 and Valve 31 are installed in their correct upper and lower orientations.

  3. Check the accumulators for leaks or flat pre-charge, and adjust to OEM specifications.

  4. Verify the pressure sensor installation and check the hydraulic piping for leaks or blockages.

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Before disconnecting any hydraulic connections, ensure the tractor is off and hydraulic pressure is released from the suspension system.

  2. Correct the Wiring

Locate the lockout valve block (usually mounted with the large accumulators). Swap the electrical connectors back to their correct solenoids: Valve 30 is the upper lockout, and Valve 31 is the lower lockout.

  3. Replace Faulty Components

If the connectors were not swapped but the code persists, the solenoids, pressure sensor, or lockout valves themselves may have failed internally and must be changed.

  4. Clear the Fault Code

Turn the ignition key switch ON. Access the Central Control Unit (CCU) diagnostic menu. Use the HC menu to erase all stored error codes without erasing calibration information. (Note: Using the H8 operation will clear all calibration values and reset the EEPROM to default, which would require a full suspension recalibration).
