Case IH U180 – Transmission Control Unit (TCU): Calibration value too low
Issue description
During a transmission calibration routine, a sensor (such as a damper or twist sensor) or a solenoid (such as a clutch solenoid) returned a value below the minimum acceptable threshold.
Applies to these machines
3 machines- Puma
- Optum
- Magnum
Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors for the transmission sensors and clutch solenoids for shorts, breaks, or corrosion.
Verify the physical installation of the sensors and dampers to ensure they are not installed incorrectly.
Check the transmission and driveline for underlying mechanical binding or damage.
Repair steps
Repair or replace wiring
Repair or replace any damaged wiring on the clutch solenoid or sensor circuits.
Replace sensor or solenoid
If the wiring is intact, replace the damaged sensor or clutch solenoid.
Correct installation
Correct any wrong installation of the damper or sensor.
Repair mechanical problems
Repair any mechanical problems on the driveline or clutch.
Re-run calibration
Re-run the CVT or SPS calibration routine.
