Case IH U23 – Transmission Control Module: Power Shuttle control lever in neutral

The system detects that the shuttle lever is in the neutral position when a directional command is expected, or there is a loss of signal from the shuttle lever indicating a deadlock or neutral state.

   Verify that the operator has actually selected the forward or reverse position on the shuttle lever

   Check if the switched 12V supply fuse for the transmission controls is blown

   Check for an open circuit in the wiring harness between the shuttle lever and the transmission module

   Use the tractor's built-in H5 switch diagnostics menu to detect if the shuttle lever switch is connected and actively registering inputs to the module

   Clear and Retest

   Place the shuttle lever in forward. Clear the error code and test the system for normal operation to rule out a temporary glitch or operator error.

   Check Power Supply

   Locate the transmission control fuse block and test the switched 12V supply fuse. Replace the fuse if blown and retest.

   Run Switch Diagnostics

   Enter the H-Menu (H5) on the instrument cluster to monitor the shuttle lever switch states. Move the lever between Forward, Neutral, and Reverse.

   Test Wiring

   If the H5 diagnostic shows no input, use a multimeter to test the continuity of the wiring harness from the base of the shuttle lever switch to the transmission module. Repair any broken wires or corroded connectors.

   Replace Switch/Lever

   If the wiring is intact and power is present, but the switch fails to register in the H5 diagnostics, the internal contacts of the shuttle lever switch have failed. Replace the shuttle lever assembly.
