Case IH U4 – EHR (Electronic Hydraulic Remotes) Valve Processor: Flow Control For Lever 4 Set Incorrectly During Calibration

This code is triggered during the calibration of the Electronic Hydraulic Remotes (EHR) system. It indicates that the flow control potentiometer or lever for remote valve #4 is either not in the correct position as required by the calibration sequence, or it is sending an implausible/incorrect signal to the controller.

   Inspect the EHR valve #4 connector and wiring harness for corrosion, damage, or loose pins. Check the internal LED flash codes visible through the plastic part of the valve casing.

   Enter the 'H5' diagnostic menu to perform a switch test. Verify that the flow control lever and switches for valve #4 are registering correctly on the instrument cluster.

   Verify valve memory. If a valve was recently replaced or the tractor experienced a voltage anomaly, the internal processor may have lost its assigned position number in the stack.

   Install diagnostic test switch

   With all the remote valves connected to the harness, install the diagnostic test switch (Tool No. 380000488) into the tractor diagnostic connector (C125), which is located behind the Electronic Draft Control panel.

   Select H-menu Mode HL

   Turn the Key Start switch to the ON position and select H-menu Mode HL (Note: HL menu appears before HJ in the sequence).

   Activate procedure

   Operate the No.1 EHR Valve timer switch 3 times in quick succession to activate the procedure.

   Clear valve memory

   The instrument display will show the number '3', followed by '2', '1', and then 'END'. This successfully clears the memory of each valve assembly.

   Turn off key switch

   Turn the key switch OFF.

   Disconnect wiring connectors

   Disconnect the wiring connectors from each remote valve.

   Reconnect and assign numbers

   Reconnect them one by one in sequence to assign their new numbers (Valve 1, Valve 2, Valve 3, Valve 4).

   Restart calibration sequence

   Restart the EHR calibration sequence. When prompted for Valve 4, ensure the flow control lever is moved exactly as specified by the display prompts to prevent the U4 code from returning.
