Case IH U43 – Transmission / Chassis Controller: PTO calibration aborted.

This is a procedural error indicating that the automatic calibration routine for the Power Take-Off (PTO) system was interrupted or stopped before it could successfully complete. This usually happens because the operator manually interrupted the process, or one of the strict environmental/system conditions required for calibration was lost during the test.

   Ensure the tractor is completely stationary (immobilized) to prevent calibration aborts.

   Verify the parking brake is firmly applied.

   Confirm the operator remains seated to keep the seat switch activated.

   Check that engine RPM is stable and set to the specified calibration range (typically 1200–1300 RPM).

   Ensure the shuttle lever is in neutral, clutch pedal is released, and PTO switch is not manually engaged.

   Verify transmission/hydraulic oil is warmed up (above 10°C / 50°F).

   Check for secondary active codes (e.g., U45, U50, U56) that indicate a hard fault preventing calibration.

   Prepare the Tractor

   Park on a flat, level surface. Apply the parking brake and shift the transmission to Park/Neutral.

   Warm Up

   Start the engine and allow the hydraulic/transmission fluid to reach operating temperature.

   Set RPM

   Sit in the operator seat (do not lift your weight off the seat). Set the engine speed to the required RPM for your specific model (usually ~1200 RPM).

   Enter Calibration Mode

   Access the tractor's H-Menu or calibration mode. (On MXM models, this is often done using the diagnostic tool or by holding the appropriate instrument cluster buttons while turning the key on).

   Run Calibration

   Navigate to the PTO calibration menu and initiate the sequence.

   Hands Off

   Do not touch the steering wheel, remote levers, clutch, or PTO switch during the process.

   Completion

   Wait for the display to show 'CAL DONE' or a successful completion message. If the calibration fails again, the display will output a new U-code. Use that specific code to diagnose the failing hardware component.
