Case IH U45 – Transmission Control Module (TCM) or Central Control Module (CCM): 50kph clutch 5 calibration value is too low

During the transmission calibration routine, the calibration values recorded for the 50kph clutch (Clutch 5) fell below the acceptable threshold. This can be caused by the engine RPM dropping too soon, improper clutch pressure control, or manual adjustment/fluctuation of engine speed during calibration.

   Verify that engine speed is completely stable and not being adjusted by the operator while the calibration is running

   Monitor engine RPM to see if it drops prematurely during the clutch fill phase of the calibration

   Check clutch 5 pressure using a pressure gauge or the tractor's H-menu diagnostics to verify proper solenoid control

   Inspect the clutch 5 solenoid for electrical faults or disconnections

   Warm Up the Tractor

   Ensure the transmission fluid is at the proper operating temperature before attempting calibration.

   Re-run Calibration

   Initiate the transmission calibration procedure again. Keep your hands off the throttle and ensure the engine speed remains steady.

   Swap Solenoids

   If the U45 code returns and you suspect the clutch pressure is not being controlled properly, locate the transmission valve block. Swap the Clutch 5 solenoid with another identical clutch solenoid (e.g., Clutch 4).

   Re-test

   Run the calibration again. If the fault code changes to follow the swapped solenoid (e.g., you now get a calibration error for Clutch 4), the solenoid is mechanically sticking or faulty and must be replaced.

   Check Mechanical Torque Path

   If the solenoid is functioning perfectly and pressure is verified, the transmission may have an internal mechanical failure (such as worn friction plates or a damaged synchronizer) preventing the clutch from holding torque.
