U60

Case IH U60 – Transmission Controller / EDC (Electronic Draft Control) module: Out Of Range Calibration Value

Issue description

Triggered during the transmission or Electronic Draft Control (EDC) calibration process when the controller detects a sensor value (such as from a clutch potentiometer or torque sensor) that falls outside the acceptable programmed parameters.

Applies to these machines

  • MXM
  • MXM 120
  • MXM 130
  • MXM 140
  • MXM 155
  • MXM 175
  • MXM 190
  • TM120
  • TM130
  • TM140
  • TM155
  • TM175
  • TM190

Check the cause

  1. Park the tractor on level ground, place all shift levers in neutral, apply the parking brake, and block the front and rear wheels.

  2. Ensure the transmission oil temperature is within the correct range (between 20°C and 50°C for 24x12 transmissions).

  3. Turn off the air conditioning (if fitted) and deselect all electrical and hydraulic services.

  4. If calibrating the EDC: Place a weight of approximately 200 kg on the lift arms to overcome linkage resistance, turn all EDC controls fully clockwise, and position the raise/work switch to the WORK position.

Repair steps

  1. Enter Calibration Mode

With the key switch OFF, depress and hold the upshift switch.

  2. Start engine in calibration mode

Turn the key switch ON. Within three seconds, depress the downshift switch, start the engine, and then release the switches. (Alternative method: Install OEM diagnostic tool 380000488 into the diagnostic port).

  3. Set engine speed

Set the engine speed to 1200 RPM.

  4. Verify calibration readiness

The transmission display will show 'CAL', indicating the transmission is ready for calibration.

  5. Calibrate clutch packs

Use the High and Low range buttons as prompted by the display to calibrate the clutch packs. The display will show a number that increases during the calibration of each clutch.

  6. Monitor calibration progress

The display will show 'SOC' during the process and will display 'END' to signify successful completion.

  7. Inspect sensors and wiring

If the U60 code persists and calibration repeatedly fails, physically inspect the clutch potentiometers, flywheel speed/torque sensor, and their wiring harnesses.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • Diagnostic Tool / Calibration Switch

    380000488

Case IH / New Holland specific tool used to force the tractor into calibration mode if the switch method fails

  • Clutch Potentiometer

Specific OEM part number depends on which specific clutch pack is failing calibration

  • Flywheel Speed / Torque Sensor

Inspect if torque calibration continues to throw out-of-range values
