Case IH U61 – Electronic Management System / Electronic Modules: Lever No. 1 not in neutral
Issue description
Triggers when the system detects that Lever #1 is not in the neutral position prior to or during a calibration procedure (such as front hitch or transmission calibration).
Applies to these machines
6 machines- Puma/Mid Range Magnum
- Farmall
- Maxxum
- Case IH Puma Series: 125, 140, 165, 180, 195, 210, 225 CVX
- Case IH Farmall Series: 40, 45, 50, 110A, 115U
- Case IH Magnum Series: 210, 230, 255, 285
Check the cause
Physically verify that Lever #1 is set to the neutral position before starting the calibration procedure
Test the lever's neutral switch or potentiometer (e.g., on some Magnum models, the control lever potentiometer should test between 4000-6000 ohms across specific terminals)
If calibrating the transmission, ensure the transmission oil temperature is at least 60 °C, as adjustments will not be possible until this temperature is reached
Repair steps
Halt Calibration
The fault condition must be corrected before the adjustment or calibration can be performed.
Reposition Lever
Move the shuttle, range, or remote valve lever #1 to the neutral position.
Clear Codes
On some models, accessing the sub-system screens and using the "dimming" button to reach "EECL" (H8) will clear all calibration values and stored fault codes from the EEPROM. Warning: This clears all calibration values.
Replace Faulty Components
If the system still cannot recognize the neutral position, the lever potentiometer or neutral safety switch has failed and must be replaced.
Recalibrate
Once the faulty switch or potentiometer is replaced, firmly apply the parking brake, block the wheels, and restart the calibration procedure.
