Case IH U64 – Cab Control Module (CCM) / Armrest Controller / Electronic Management System: Lever No. 4 not in neutral
Issue description
Triggered by the tractor's electronic management system when a technician or operator attempts to initiate a calibration procedure (such as a Front Hitch, Steering, or Transmission calibration) while the #4 auxiliary remote valve lever is physically or electronically registered as being out of the neutral position.
Applies to these machines
6 machines- Puma/Mid Range Magnum
- Maxxum
- Puma series (140, 165, 180, 195, 210, 225 CVX)
- Magnum series (MX210, MX230, MX255, MX285)
- Farmall series (40, 45, 50, 115U)
- Maxxum series
Check the cause
Visually and physically check that Lever No. 4 on the armrest console is resting completely in the center/neutral detent.
Ensure the tractor is completely stationary, the parking brake is firmly applied, and the ground speed display reads zero.
Check the diagnostic sub-system screen for the 'Aux 4th remote valve LEVER potentiometer' to see if the voltage sweep is stuck or reading out of range.
Repair steps
Reset the Lever
Move Lever No. 4 out of its current position and firmly seat it back into the neutral position.
Restart Calibration
Begin the calibration procedure (e.g., Front Hitch or Steering calibration) from the beginning.
Test the Potentiometer
If the system still throws U64 with the lever centered, access the armrest console internals.
Replace Faulty Component
If the diagnostic screen confirms the lever's potentiometer is failing to read 'neutral', remove and replace the Lever No. 4 potentiometer/switch assembly.
Clear Codes
Clear the stored fault codes and re-run the calibration.
Parts you might need
(1)Auxiliary Remote Valve Lever Potentiometer / Armrest Remote Lever Switch
Ensure you are ordering the potentiometer specifically for the electronic remote levers in the armrest, not the mechanical detent switch on the rear valve block itself.
