Issue description

This is a timeout error triggered during operation or during the automatic calibration procedure (ACP) when the suspension system fails to lift the front axle or hitch to its maximum programmed travel limit within the allotted 20-second window.

Check the cause

  1. Disconnect the implement: Ensure no heavy implements are physically restricting the suspension's upward travel.

  2. Check the hydraulic pressure: Verify that the system is generating sufficient hydraulic pressure to lift the suspension and check the pressure of the accumulators.

  3. Check the raise valve installation: Ensure the raise valve is seated correctly and functioning.

  4. Check the unload solenoid installation: Specifically, check the 'GREEN' unload solenoid and its wiring harness for faults.

  5. Check suspension mechanics: Inspect the physical suspension components for binding, mechanical failure, or anything breaking the torque path.

  6. Check engine speed: Ensure the operator has set the correct engine speed, as low RPMs can result in insufficient hydraulic flow to raise the suspension in time.

Repair steps

  1. Isolate the Tractor

    Park the tractor on a flat, level surface, apply the handbrake, and disconnect any attached implements.

  2. Inspect the Wiring Harness

    Carefully inspect the wiring harness leading to the suspended axle valve block. Look for bare wires, heat damage, or open circuits, which are known to cause erratic suspension behavior and timeout codes. Repair any damaged sections of the harness.

  3. Test Hydraulic and Accumulator Pressure

    Using a diagnostic tool (like the Case IH EST), view the rod and piston pressures. Ensure the system relief valve and accumulators are operating within specification (e.g., system relief valve opens above 210 bar on Terraglide systems).

  4. Inspect/Replace Solenoids and Valves

    Locate the suspension control valve block. Test the Raise Valve and the Green Unload Solenoid for electrical continuity and mechanical sticking. If the raise valve calibration values are too high or too low, the valve is likely faulty and must be replaced.

  5. Perform Suspension Calibration

    After replacing parts or repairing wiring, initiate the automatic calibration procedure (ACP). Ensure the vehicle is completely stationary and the handbrake is set (otherwise, code U12 will trigger).

  6. Verify Calibration Thresholds

    During calibration (viewable in mode H3 on some models), check the current required to operate the EDC raise/lower solenoids. The threshold is displayed in amps x 100 (e.g., 53 means 0.530 amps). Ensure these match typical OEM values.
