CLAAS 55W – Body controller / cab module (e.g., CEBIS): Rotating Beacon Fault
Issue description
The system has detected a fault related to the rotating beacon's electrical circuit, indicating a failure in its operation or functionality. The '55W' designation likely refers to the 55-watt halogen bulb commonly used in the assembly. This malfunction can be caused by a burnt-out bulb, a failed rotation motor, or a fault in the wiring, fuse, or control switch.

Check the cause
Perform a visual inspection to see if the beacon illuminates and rotates. If lit but not spinning, suspect the motor or drive mechanism; if not lit, suspect the bulb, wiring, fuse, or switch.
Check the fuse panel for a blown fuse on the rotating beacon or work lights circuit.
Test the beacon operating switch for internal failure or burnt connector pins, especially if handling high current without a relay.
Visually inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the beacon for damage, corrosion, or loose connections, paying close attention to the base connector.
Repair steps
Access the beacon
Ensure the machine is turned off and safely parked. Use a ladder or platform to safely access the beacon on the cab roof.
Replace the bulb (if not illuminating)
Open the beacon's lens cover and disengage the retaining clip. Remove the old bulb and install a new H1 12V 55W halogen bulb. Handle the new bulb by the metal base only to avoid getting oils on the glass. Secure the clip, close the housing, and test.
Inspect and repair rotation motor (if illuminating but not rotating)
Check the small rubber drive belt connecting the motor to the reflector. If intact and positioned correctly, the motor itself has likely failed. Replace the motor or the entire beacon assembly.
Diagnose electrical faults
If a new bulb and fuse do not resolve the issue, use a multimeter to check for voltage at the beacon's connector. If no voltage is present, trace the wiring back to the switch and fuse panel to locate the open circuit or short. Consider installing a relay if the circuit is overloaded by multiple beacons.
