Id7553h / 7553h

CLAAS Id7553h / 7553h – MFA (A100): Error on CLAAS vehicle CAN bus

Issue description

The multifunction armrest is no longer emitting messages over the CLAAS vehicle CAN bus due to an excessively high number of CAN error frames on the network. This results in the random operation or complete inactivity of the multifunction armrest, maintaining the current gear. After restarting the tractor, the transmission defaults to a degraded mode where only gears C1 and B1 are available.

Applies to these machines

  • CLAAS Axion 850
  • CLAAS Axion 920
  • CLAAS Axion 950
  • CLAAS Arion 410
  • CLAAS Arion 430
  • CLAAS Arion 510
  • CLAAS Arion 640

Check the cause

  1. Check the CLAAS vehicle CAN bus network physical wiring harness for continuity, open circuits, or short circuits

  2. Check power sources, including all relevant fuses, power supply lines, and ground connections to the affected modules

  3. Check the CAN bus network communication module BDG (A103) to ensure it is communicating properly and not pulling the CAN network down

  4. Check the TR2 transmission module (A57-2) connection to the CAN bus

  5. Check the MFA (A100) module resistance and operating conditions

Repair steps

  1. Verify the Fault

Connect the CLAAS Diagnostic System (CDS) to confirm the presence of Id7553h / 7553h logged in the MFA (A100) module.

  2. Inspect Wiring and Connectors

Disconnect the harnesses at the MFA (A100), BDG (A103), and TR2 (A57-2) modules. Inspect the pins for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or moisture.

  3. Test CAN Bus Integrity

Using a multimeter, check the resistance across the CAN High and CAN Low pins to ensure the terminating resistors are intact (typically 60 ohms total network resistance). Test for shorts to ground or shorts to power on the CAN lines.

  4. Verify Module Power/Ground

Test the power and ground circuits at the MFA (A100) connector under load to ensure the module is receiving adequate voltage.

  5. Isolate the Fault

If the CAN bus wiring, power, and grounds are good, but the network is still crashing (too many error frames), isolate the modules one by one (BDG A103, TR2 A57-2) to see if network communication restores.

  6. Replace/Reprogram

If the MFA (A100) is determined to be the source of the CAN bus errors, replace the multifunction armrest module. Check for compatibility of program versions and calibrate the new module using the CLAAS Diagnostic System.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • Multifunction Armrest Module (MFA A100)

Must be programmed/calibrated to the specific tractor via CDS after installation.

  • CAN Network Communication Module (BDG A103)

  • Transmission Control Module 2 (TR2 A57-2)
